After going for two straight double-doubles Andre Drummond saw his offense slow down as he combined for 7 points in the last two games with the Los Angeles Lakers. The center called this stretch the worst offensive basketball of his career.
According to head coach Frank Vogel, it was due to the defenses that he faced that resulted in low scoring games. “I think having LeBron out there with him will contribute and AD, two playmakers,” he said. “The last two nights have been difficult challenges. We went in really stingy defense that we played against [the Knicks] last night that was intent to not let us post up by fronting and not letting our bigs get any post touches.
“Tonight they played zone the whole game. You play zone, you take away the post to pack it in and to take away players like Trezz and Drummond. We just have to take what the defense gives us which was a lot of perimeter shots, a lot of drive and kick situations. It didn’t result in Drum having a high point total. But I don’t agree that he’s playing really poorly offensively. Just the nature of the last two defensive opponents.”
